Who Let the (Daemon) Dog Out?

After months of writing, testing, and letting the woods whisper to me, I’m proud to release SHUCK, the newest entry in my Pulp Dreadful series of solo tabletop RPGs.
This one’s different.
Most Pulp Dreadful games have been steeped in cobblestone and fog. Haunted cities, crumbling castles, and the kind of gothic horror that clings to lamplight. But SHUCK takes a detour into the deep rural wilds of Drachenheim, a place untouched by industry, where life hasn’t changed in centuries and the forest still remembers your name.
It’s a game about being hunted. About old rites and older monsters. About surviving long enough to perform a ritual that might not even save you.
What Is SHUCK?
SHUCK is a solo survival horror TTRPG. You play as The Courier, tasked with carrying a sacred Whisperoot through the cursed woods of Wraw Hollow. Behind you, the daemon hound BLACK SHUCK closes in. Ahead, the forest twists with strange encounters, warped creatures, and impossible choices.
Every turn:
- You move forward through a hex-crawl map
- You roll for a forest encounter (combat, tests, or narrative events)
- SHUCK moves closer — sometimes fast, sometimes slow, but always coming
SHUCK is part of a bigger world I’m building which will eventually become a full TTRPG. These smaller games are my way of exploring different corners of that world, one mood and one setting at a time.
SHUCK is short, sharp, and strange. It’s designed to be played in a single sitting - If you’re into solo RPGs, folk horror, or just want to explore a different kind of dread, I hope you’ll give it a go.
